The Writing Center is committed to supporting student writers across disciplines by partnering with faculty to strengthen writing instruction inside and outside of the classroom. Writing is central to learning, research, and professional development, and we aim to complement the writing already happening in your courses. We collaborate with instructors to help students develop confidence and effective writing practices at every stage of the process.
Class Visits and Workshops
The Writing Center offers a range of in-class visits and workshops designed to support student writers. Our consultants can visit your class for brief introductions to Writing Center services, targeted workshops on topics such as citations, research, lab reports, poster presentations, and generative AI, or full-class peer review facilitation sessions. We are also happy to collaborate with instructors to tailor workshops to the specific goals and needs of a course.

Embedded Consultant Program
Are you teaching a course that includes writing or research? Our Embedded Consultant Program connects your course with a designated Writing Center consultant who works closely with both you and your students throughout the semester. Embedded consultants can visit class sessions to facilitate peer review workshops, writing activities, and revision support tailored to your assignments and course goals.
Because embedded consultants are in regular communication with instructors, they develop a strong understanding of course expectations, assignment guidelines, and disciplinary conventions. They also serve as a familiar point of contact for students seeking one-on-one Writing Center support outside of class.
We piloted this program in Winter 2026 in several senior seminar biology courses with strong results, including increased student engagement with The Writing Center and more targeted, assignment-specific writing support.
